J. Crew Sale Reviews!

In the last additional 30% off sale event, I went on to purchase some tops and accessories. This was more of an impulse buy to take advantage of a sale. I need to stop this haha.

Let's start!

Striped Colorblock Top $24.15 XXS

Love this top! I like how the bright pink is attention grabbing, but is somewhat toned down by classic stripes. I'm quite into stripes recently as you will see in this post! The material is super thick so it is perfect for cooler days. This runs pretty large.

Painter Boatneck Tee $20.65 XS

Love this top! It is super flattering and the length is perfect! The fit is slim and is true to size.

Factory Two-Tone Stripe Tee $24.15 XS

This top is just okay. It is kind of loose on me and personally doesn't fit very well. But I do like the stripes and the two colors. Final sale so no returns. :|

J Crew 3" Chino Shorts in Neon Yellow. Size 2 $29.99

Can't complain about J Crew shorts! They fit quite well. I usually grab a 0 or 2. I also like the bright neon yellow. It definitely isn't for the faint of heart, it is really highlighter bright yellow!

Stripe Silk Cami $69.99 Size 0

The fit of this tank is a little off. It is super tight on the bust (I don't even have a large bust to begin with) and it flares out right under, much like an empire fit. I'm not particularly fond of that, but the amazing color and stripe pattern make up for it. I think this would look good with slim white skinny jeans.

Hope this helps! If you have any questions post or email me at kim@aprettythought.com

Kim

More J Crew Sale!

Just on a whim (and to return the Toothpick Jean in Garment Dyed Twill in Festival Green) I went to another J Crew Store, the one in Century City, LA. Again the sale rack was pretty picked over with mostly long-sleeved tees and sweaters hanging about. I was, however, able to snag a sequined top (this one) for $39.99 - 40% - 15%.

Here's what I tried on:

Fanfare jacket in peacock tweed ($199 - 40% -15%)

I liked the fabric and texture a lot. Wasn't so much a fan of the plastic looking buttons. The sizing runs similar to a Schoolboy blazer and one size smaller than the Hacking.

Liquid Silk Skirt ($69 - 40% -15%)

Liquid Silk Skirt

Super soft and flowy, but the length is not for me. I don't think midi or calf length skirts are quite flattering on me. I like short, knee-length and maxi ones. Passed on this one.

Did you manage to snag anything at your J Crew store?

Additionally, there is another 30% off all Sale Items on J Crew with the code MUSTHAVE.

Here's what is on my radar:

J Crew Hacking Jacket in Tipped Double-Serge Wool

Feathered Crystal Necklace:

Floral Chiffon Maxiskirt

J Crew Eddie Oxfords

Sparkler Skirt in Tinsel Lace

J Crew Sale & Some New Arrivals

I went to the J Crew store at 3rd St. Promenade in Santa Monica yesterday. I hurried my friends to walk 4 blocks to get to J Crew. Since the online Final Sale was quite satifying last week, I wanted to see what was in the brick and mortar store. The idea of racks of sale items + 40% off + 15% off (student discount) was alluring. But...

The sale was dismal. Only cable-knit sweaters and long sleeved tees remained. I was hoping to find some silk shirts, skirts and jackets. There was a Plaza Coat in Cobalt (not my size) sitting in the corner so I decided to try it on.

It was too big for me. The lady in the opposite dressing room asked if she could have it and I agreed without hesitation. Hopefully it worked for her! I was marked down to $229 from $325.

Yup. That's it for the sale section for me.

So I moved on to the regular priced arena. Nothing too eyepopping for me. I did want to try on the toothpick denim in a bright color (owing to my current obsession with colored denim) and I tried on some other cute separates.

Toothpick Jean in Garment Dyed Twill in Festival Green ($108). Showed this in my previous post. The fit was okay. A little snug in the hips and thighs.

Schoolboy blazer in Prince of Wales Wool in Tobacco ($325) I'm really into blazers right now as well, so I decided to try this Schoolboy on. The fabric was slightly lighter than my other Schoolboy which I think is a good thing. Again J Crew did not have my size, so I am wearing one size larger.

J Crew Two Tone Circle Skirt ($250, on sale online for $179.99) My friend picked this out for me. I normally don't wear longer skirts so I was weary. I thought that a skirt that hit slightly below the tip of my kneecaps would be unflattering but it wasn't half bad. She chose it for me because she knows how much I liked cinched waists.

Overall not a successful trip for me. I got the toothpick denim and plan to buy the skirt online since it is on sale. I might return the jeans though (if I find the dang receipt) because I found a new favorite brand of colored denim (see previous post)!

Hope you enjoyed the post!
